Popcast 28 - Jarritos Mango

We continue with the Jarritos barrage, this week tasting their mango flavored soda.  Along with that we of course have some news.  This week Pepsi tries to save the world's water, a badly performed taste test of HFCS and sugar, soda companies think people believe clear sodas are healthier, Jones has some "Buffy" themed drinks, bacon soda is a thing that exists, and a nifty map showing what regions call soda...or pop.  Hope you enjoy it more than meat soda.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 27

Popcast 27 - Jarritos Guava

Welcome to what we're calling Season 2 of the Popcast, which just means we couldn't really do any shows for like two and a half months.  Whilst we were gone we did plenty of reviews, and were actually sought out by the fine folks at Jarritos, who provided us with a whole bunch of drinks to try out, and today we look at the mysterious guava.  In the news (remember that?) Dr. Pepper's stock could be doing better, Jones' stock is a safe bet now, Coca-Cola workers in the northwest go on strike, a new product from the folks at SodaStream, HFCS is now CS, and the return of our bad story that ends on a positive note thanks to soda segment!  Hope you like it better than a soda that tastes like a clay pot.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 27

Popcast 26 - Hansen's Original Cola

We could have sworn Hansen's did not make the original cola, the tip off being that there have been many colas out and about for years prior to this coming out very recently.  Either way we still gave it a try.  Along with that in news we have Coke's touch screen vending machine, Maine is home to a new soda company, Coke brings out a Russian drink in New York, and a recipe for caramel root beer syrup.  Hope you enjoy it more than drinking a dusty bottle of actual original cola.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 26

Popcast 25 - Sangaria Ramune Strawberry

We reach what we believe to be the silver anniversary of Popcasts and bust out some ramune, strawberry flavored and from Sangaria.  Even though we do sometimes disagree, and sometimes we agree, remember, this is only an exhibition, this is not a competition, so please, no wagering.  Of course we have some news, this week Harvard does an experiment with the soda tax, the Mayor of San Francisco asks people to not have soda this summer, something good (we think) happens to Jones, and a pop can tribute to the king of pop.  Hope you enjoy it more than drinking a soda used in a piece of art.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 25

Popcast 24 - The 150th Review Extravaganza!

We know it's difficult to comprehend that we've done 150 reviews on our site, but please, don't let your mind get to frazzled so as that you may listen to the hard work we've done to record this.  After our MYSTERY SODA, we talk about some news, like Thomas Kemper's new stuff, Pepsi's iPhone app, Champ Cherry soda, the Pop Shoppe, and a video of that fancy new Coke machine.  Hope you enjoy it more than drinking 150 sodas in a row.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 24

Popcast 23 - Topo Chico Twist of Lime

Ah, nothing more refreshing than a crisp citrus type beverage for the hot days that are upon us.  So today we take a drink of Topo Chico Twist of Lime!  Not only would we appreciate some refreshment right now, we appreciate their minimal amount of ingredients...hmm, wait a second...there's no sweetener here.  Uh oh...well, find out how that worked out on today's exciting Popcast!  Today in news, Jones stock skyrockets thanks to Walmart, Motley Fool says be wary of Jones' stock, Walmart's soda is selling like crazy, a fast soda machine has a following on Facebook, and some recipes that involve soda.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda without any sweetener.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 23

Popcast 22 - OKF Sparkling Fresh Grape

We accidentally run into some more stevia this week, but is that a bad thing?  Listen to find out, and also find out how long it takes us to realize that the flavor isn't grape raisin, but just grape, and raisin is French for grape.  Whoops!  Anyhoo, in the news the Jones D&D flavors are back, Reed's expands yet again, Coke introduces football (aka soccer) shaped bottles, and Hansen's creates cola.  Hope you enjoy it more than drinking Coke out of a dirty football.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 22

Popcast 21 - The Great Stevia Special

We take Stevia head on, first with "Dr. Zevia," a Dr. you-know-what type of drink.  Secondly, as a bonus, we finally review the diet soda that we feel as the best chance of actually being good:  Diet Virgil's Root Beer.  Listen to our exciting results today!  In the news, it turns out diet soda is actually good for preventing kidney stones, soda doesn't play a factor in colon cancer, Dry Soda is lauded for it's design, and a Soda Jerks store opens...sorta.  Hope you enjoy it more than another soda that tastes like baby carrots.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 21

Popcast 20 - Gamer Cherry

For our show's 20 year anniversary we combine two of our past times, or rather review a beverage that combines two of our past times, Gamer Cherry.  In a recent vote fans say it's their favorite flavor of the Gamer line...will we agree?  I guarantee we'll agree on one thing:  there is news, and this week we have reasons why you should buy Coke stock, an update on the soda bottle boat, a university newspaper attempts to name the best store brand soda, and drink makers are looking for a "next gen" sweetener.  We have a suggestion, and I bet you can guess it.  Hope you enjoy it more than a soda sweetened with...next gen sweetener.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).

Popcast Episode 20

Popcast 19 - Dewmocracy 2010

Hey, 19!  Oh, yuck, did I just reference Steely Dan?  Excuse me...  Sorry, now that I'm done being sick we can move on to today's order of business:  politics.  Well, soda politics.  It's time for Mountain Dew's annual Dewmocracy campaign where you can decide which flavor out of three becomes a new flavor of Mountain Dew.  This year we have three candidates.  Will any of them be a winner or will we choose "none of the above" ?  Find out by listening, and then do what we tell you to!  We do have news this week as well, with such exciting stories as Hansen doing poorly, Dr. Pepper doing well, Hall of Fame beverages doing well, and Jones doing well as well by getting their products in a grocery chain.  Yeah, slow news week.  Still, we hope you enjoy it more than a soda that tastes like Steely Dan sounds.  Thanks to Polarity Failure for the music (http://www.myspace.com/bassbyjames/).
